Free Webspace

Where can I find webspace I don't have to pay for?

When people first start out, it's generally a good idea to use free webspace. This way, you're not spending a ton of money on something you're not sure you're going to stick with. Here are some good, reliable web hosts that you can try.

There are some things to keep in mind, though. Free webspace comes with limitations that paid servers don't have. For one, you're likely going to get stuck with a long URL that isn't exactly what you'd prefer. Secondly, you're almost guaranteed to have server ads publicizing your host. Third, there will be certain scripts and freedoms that you could enjoy on a paid server that won't be allowed on a free server.

If you want more freedom in designing your site, then I strongly recommend a paid server. If you can handle the limitations, then check out some of the free servers below.

Webs.com
First and foremost, you need webspace. Many people choose to start with a free web server. If that's the case, this is the one I recommend. They offer you one of two options. You can choose to use an advanced HTML editor and do all of the coding yourself, or you can choose an amateur approach and use their templates, with basically a "fill in the blanks" type of scenario. Some of the free features they offer you are form submissions, guestbooks, free hit counters and more. I've used this host many times in the past with no complaints.
