My Songs

I've always enjoyed writing, but songs tend to be harder to write than poetry. Where poetry just ... comes out, with a mind of it's own, song lyrics need working on to put to a melody. With me, it seems songs only come out long after the melody already has. These are a few of the songs I've written.

Ten Thousand Tears

I see your eyes in the night while I'm sleeping,
And I feel your kiss on my lips, but I'm dreaming.
You've been gone for so long, it feels like forever,
And it tears apart my broken heart dreaming of us together.

Ten thousand tears,
All of my darkest fears.
My confidence falling, the loneliness calling,
Ten thousand tears.
And ten thousand ways,
I've suffered through all these days.
Tell me what can I do to stop dreaming of you so I wont cry
Ten thousand tears.

I can't forget, or havn't yet, how you loved me,
And I know that you don't miss the days when you held me.
There was a time when we were strong,
But now those days are dead and gone.
And I cry...

Ten thousand tears,
All of my darkest fears.
My confidence falling, the loneliness calling,
Ten thousand tears.
And ten thousand ways,
I've suffered through all these days.
Tell me what can I do to stop dreaming of you so I wont cry
Ten thousand tears.

And ten thousand words,
In my dreams I heard.
I hear your voice softly saying you'll never leave me.
Ten thousand tears.
And ten thousand scars,
My torn and broken heart.
Tell me what can I do to stop dreaming of you,
So I won't cry
Ten thousand tears.

Please tell me what can I do to stop dreaming of you,
So I won't cry ten thousand tears.

Sorry The Next Day

She's sitting at her kitchen table
Thinking 'bout the night before.
The words that he said, the look that she read
In his eyes as he stormed through the door.
A teardrop falls and makes its way down her bruised and swollen face.
This time she knows she won't be here
For his apology the next day.

Her bags are packed, she won't look back,
She's running the other way.
There's a life out there that she knows she'll find,
If she can just get away.
She's not alone, she knows that now.
Her pride is here to stay.
So she'll find the life she's never had,
Because he's sorry the next day.

She's tired of making excuses
For every mark her made.
The lying and the cheating, the pain and the beating,
She left behind when she walked away.
She turns to look at her past once more,
As a tear falls from her eye.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do
Is to turn and say goodbye.

Her bags are packed, she won't look back,
She's running the other way.
There's a life out there that she knows she'll find,
If she can just get away.
She's not alone, she knows that now.
Her pride is here to stay.
So she'll find the life she's never had,
Because he's sorry the next day.
